Screen Shot 2016-07-19 at 16.02.15The Royal Academy of Arts today launched the Mayfair and St. Jamesโ€™s Map. The complimentary map highlights the area of Mayfair and St. Jamesโ€™s, one of the oldest and most important arts quarters in the world. From the south of St. Jamesโ€™s between Pall Mall and Piccadilly to the north of New Bond Street, the area is home to internationally renowned auction houses and leading art galleries as well as the Royal Academy of Arts.

The map has been produced in collaboration with GalleriesNow.net and features 145 art locations in total, including 139 commercial galleries, 4 auction houses, as well as the Royal Academy and The Photographersโ€™ Gallery. Visitors to the area will be able to pick up a map from each of the listed venues and explore the vibrant breadth of art on display, from works by the Old Masters to todayโ€™s contemporary artists. The map will also be available to download from the RA website and GalleriesNow.net.

Charles Saumarez Smith, Secretary and Chief Executive of the Royal Academy of Arts, said: โ€œIn the lead up to the Royal Academyโ€™s 250th anniversary and the opening of the Elizabeth Line at Bond Street Station in 2018, we are delighted to be working with the galleries and auction houses in the area, to present the broad range of visual arts Mayfair and St Jamesโ€™s has to offer.โ€

Notes to Editors:

About the Royal Academy of Arts

The Royal Academy of Arts was founded by King George III of England in 1768. It has a unique position in being an independent, privately funded institution led by eminent artists and architects whose purpose is to be a clear, strong voice for art and artists. Its public programmes promote the creation, enjoyment and appreciation of the visual arts through exhibitions, education and debate.

The RA is undergoing a transformative redevelopment which will be completed in time for its 250th anniversary in 2018. Led by the internationally-acclaimed architect Sir David Chipperfield RA and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), the plans will link Burlington House on Piccadilly and Burlington Gardens for the first time, uniting and revitalising the two-acre site. The redevelopment will also reveal the elements that make the RA unique, sharing with the public the historic treasures in its Collection, the work of its Academicians and the RA Schools, alongside its world-class exhibitions programme.

GalleriesNow.net announces New York ArtMap in
collaboration with Frieze New York art fair
GalleriesNow, the one-stop guide to the leading art exhibitions and galleries across the globe, is delighted to announce it has published, in collaboration with Frieze, the essential guide to art in New York during Frieze week.

The Frieze New York map follows the success of GalleriesNowโ€™s London ArtMap, which was produced with Frieze for the London edition of the fair in 2015. The New York version includes information on exhibitions at more than 100 galleries.

The map will be distributed widely โ€“ at the VIP desks, at the VIP reception in the Surrey Hotel, in the exhibitorsโ€™ welcome packs and the exhibitorsโ€™ lounge, as well as in all the galleries and partner hotels. Additionally, GalleriesNow.net will list all the important events taking place during the fair week.

Says co-founder and director Tristram Fetherstonhaugh: โ€˜Our city guide shows you where all the major galleries are and what they will be showing during Frieze. It will be an invaluable guide to the city during the fair and a useful resource afterwards.โ€™

GalleriesNow.net was launched in 2014 and works with the worldโ€™s leading galleries, including Gagosian, David Zwirner, Lisson Gallery, Blain|Southern, T293, Rodeo, Galerie Eva Presenhuber and Michael Werner Gallery.
