JD Malat Gallery presents The Body in the Room, a group exhibition bringing together paintings by Nanci Byrne, Katarina Časerman, Emma Cousin, and Ngai Ning Yu. The exhibition asks what it means for a body to occupy space, and what it leaves behind when it withdraws. Each of the four painters works at a different threshold: the ornamental charged with unease, the figural on the edge of dissolving, the flesh made strange and luminous, the room held in the aftermath of a presence. Together they ask who gets to be seen, on what terms, and at what cost.
