Galerie Buchholz presents a new exhibition of Paul Thek in New York, the gallery’s second solo exhibition since co-representing the estate of the artist. Following the first exhibition which focused exclusively on a cycle of early paintings from 1963-1964, this exhibition brings together newspaper paintings, paintings on canvas, and drawings made between 1969 and 1987 as well as a 1971 sculptural installation and a quilted flag from 1977.

At the opening, Andrew Durbin, author of the newly published biography “The Wonderful World That Almost Was: A Life of Peter Hujar and Paul Thek,” and the artists Moyra Davey and Rebecca Quaytman will lead a tour. The exhibition was conceived in collaboration with the Estate of Paul Thek and the Paul Thek Foundation, and runs parallel to an exhibition of Paul Thek’s work at Pace Gallery, along with a group exhibition organized by Andrew Durbin at Ortuzar Projects.
