Artist: Hassan Hajjaj

Moroccan-born Hassan Hajjaj’s practice centres around his North African roots as well as his experience of life in London, notably through its club, hip-hop, and reggae scenes. A self-taught artist and photographer, Hajjaj’s works are instantly recognisable through their blend of portraiture, installation, performance, and fashion. Addressing art historical topics from Orientalism to contemporary fashion and consumerism, Hajjaj bridges cultures through art, music, and food. This summer, Sotheby's collaborates with Hajjaj and Vigo Gallery for an exhibition featuring both his iconic works and new series focused on London's contemporary creative scene, alongside a Story Cafe takeover.
