Galerie Fabian Lang presents ‘The Madwomen of Chaillot’, by Swiss artist Vincent Grange (b. 1997, CH). The show marks Grange’s debut solo show at the gallery, following his initial inclusion in a group exhibition last fall.

"Bobby pins, compacts, curlers, lipstick tubes and other femme fatale missiles have landed in Zurich. The unapologetically fierce, delusional and imaginary girl group ‘The Madwomen of Chaillot’ has returned. While they have been sitting in the park by the pissoir, the world has gotten out of its mind. The poets, paddlers, jugglers, innocents and the mad who once thrived are now vanishing. So upset they have not bothered to shave, Molly, Lily, and Dorothy are putting their spiked heel down and intend to remind everyone that the glitter of all the broken glass from '69 is still sparkling."

Drawing on LGBTQIA+ histories, queer identities, and speculative storytelling, Vincent Grange builds worlds populated by fictional characters and symbolic artefacts that question societal norms and power structures. The architecture, artefacts and different sculptures he creates, invite visitors to interpret each decision he takes, and decipher the often absurd and camp story he is writing. Across his exhibitions, Grange writes a continuous, evolving story — each show developing from the previous one. Characters reappear, objects resurface, and spaces interconnect, forming a growing universe that unfolds across time and place.

In 2023, Grange received the Déliée grant 2023 du Fonds Cantonal d’Art Contemporain. In 2024 he was one of the recipients of the Kiefer Hablitzel Göhner Prize at the Swiss Art Awards and had a subsequent solo exhibition at The Swiss Institute in Milan.
