Mon-fri 10am-7pm

Artist: Philippe Pastor

Robilant+Voena presents an exhibition of paintings by Monegasque artist Philippe Pastor in Milan. A unique experience, the exhibition will be presented across two locations in Milan – with smaller works on view in Robilant+Voena's gallery at Via della Spiga 1, and a selection of monumental canvases installed at a special venue at Via Gargano 15, in the south of the city. The exhibition presents works from Pastor’s new series North Pole together with earlier paintings from cycles such as Bleu Monochrome, leading visitors on a journey through key moments of the artist's painterly investigations from the past decade.

At the core of the exhibition are the North Pole paintings, comprising monochrome, expressive canvases that evoke both the power and fragility of the planet's polar and glacial regions. Each painting is characterised by dramatic contrasts of black, white and grey, layers of pigment and ink creating three-dimensional accretions on the surface, a topography of abstraction that alludes to the chasms and crevasses of melting ice.

Collectively, the works exemplify the artist’s environmental advocacy and his mission to urge climate action. This is Philippe Pastor’s third solo exhibition with the gallery and his first at Robilant+Voena’s Milan gallery, following presentations in St. Moritz and New York in 2024.

The exhibition is accompanied by a digital catalogue including a conversation with Pastor by curator Caroline Corbetta, and an artist profile by journalist Axelle Corty.
