9 Conduit Street, W1S 2XG David Aiu Servan-Schreiber: From Sun to Flame
Sun-Tue 8.30am-midnight, Wed-Sat 8.30am-2am
Artist: David Aiu Servan-Schreiber
As part of its 2025 exhibition programme, Mayfair’s avant-garde destination sketch, renowned for its eclectic art-filled interiors, innovative cuisine, and extraordinary dining experiences, presents From Sun to Flame, a solo exhibition of works by MTArt Agency artist David Aiu Servan-Schreber.
The exhibition brings together a selection of artworks from Servan-Schreiber’s Planet series. Taking inspiration from earth's greatest struggles, such as deforestation or climate change, Servan-Schreiber's practice uses nature's elements: earth, water, air and fire. Using wood as the base of his work, the artist uses an air compressor to guide flames and an air gun to spray pigments.
The artist's compositions are not pessimistic; rather they encourage us to consider the damage to earth thus far and work towards caring for the very thing which provides us with life. Servan-Schreiber's works are at their core reflective pieces; they tempt the viewer to slow down and enter a state of contemplation.
The installation at sketch includes two illuminated light boxes serving as luminous focal points. Complementing the light boxes, a carefully arranged display of smaller works offers a closer look at Servan-Schreiber’s methods and artistic range. At the crossroads of figuration and abstraction, in a process of both destruction and creation, life's intricacies are at the centre of Servan-Schreiber's thinking and form.
David Aiu Servan-Schreiber is a French painter whose work spans themes of cosmology, nature, and transformation. His practice began in street art and evolved into a deeply spiritual engagement with the elements, sun, fire, earth, and time. Using techniques such as burning, oxidation, and illumination, his pieces reflect a dialogue between material and metaphysical realms. He has exhibited widely across Europe and the UK, with works held in private and institutional collections.
