Artists: Venetta Nicole - Chantel Okwesa

Colour Drench is a duo exhibition that explores colour theory and its emotional effects through works of abstract imagination.
Venetta Nicole’s body of abstract paintings and constructions is built on the concept of emotion and the use of art as a method of dissecting experiences. Her work is concerned not only with exploring matters of community and identity, but also with the idea of joy. In many of her most recent works, she utilises happiness as a guiding point. She speaks often of the challenges of creating around joy and the difficulty of finding that emotion within and bringing it to the canvas.
Chantel Okwesa creates unique and vibrant colour compositions to invoke evocative and thought-provoking moods. Focusing on what may seem like unusual colour combinations and slowly working them together over time, Okwesa builds stunning abstract works. She has stated that her goal in creating is to foster communication around the exploration of emotions and emotional moments.
This is the first exhibition by the newly formed House Collective. Curated by Giselle
Walker.
