1+1=3: an exhibition where art becomes dialogue

Loevenbruck, Paris

Fri 23 Jan 2026 to Sat 21 Mar 2026

6, rue Jacques Callot, 75006 1+1=3: an exhibition where art becomes dialogue

Tue-Sat 11am-7pm

With: Angel Alonso, John Cage, Alfred Courmes, Daniel Dewar & Grégory Gicquel, Key Hiraga, Asger Jorn, Tetsumi Kudo, Auguste Rodin, Chloé Royer, Alina Szapocznikow

This group show conceived by Hervé Loevenbruck presents virtuous associations of ideas in which the juxtaposition of works and artists opens up a new space of dialogue. Beyond their tribute to Présence Panchounette, a mythical French group of the 1980s, these bold juxtapositions exemplify and/or question good taste, knowledge, eclecticism, and the art of mixing types of work that on the surface have nothing in common.

“1+1=3” draws on the gallery’s reserves, unearthing a congeries of art historical treasures by the likes of John Cage, Alfred Courmes, Key Hiraga, Asger Jorn, Tetsumi Kudo, Claes Oldenburg, Auguste Rodin and Alina Szapocznikow, for a conversation with contemporary artists such as Daniel Dewar & Grégory Gicquel, Blaise Drummond, Gábor Ősz, Chloé Royer, among others.

Between two works, between two artists – sometimes far apart, sometimes complementary – an interstice remains, deliberately left as a space of freedom where each is invited to relate, to invent. “ 1+1=3” is an invitation to go beyond appearances and discover, in the confrontation of styles and periods, a new way of looking at art.
