Attending the Beaux-Arts in Paris from the age of 16 and practicing painting from an early age, Jean-Paul Philippe made a first trip to Italy in 1960 which had a profound effect on him. He moved to Florence the following year and worked in the Drawings Office of the Uffizi, in the intimacy of the works of the Quattrocento.
