Artist: Ribal Molaeb
Ribal’s paintings invite the viewer to engage in a temporal experience rather than to occupy a fixed space. Time is suspended within them, yet not frozen. Light appears less as an optical phenomenon than as a state of perception. The canvas becomes a space for active contemplation, where the gaze does not seek to identify forms but to inhabit atmospheres. By rejecting the picturesque and narrative, by favouring gradations over contrasts, silences over assertions, Molaeb constructs a pictorial language of rare coherence. Between his father’s legacy and his European musical training, between Baissour and Zurich, between the viola and the paintbrush, Ribal Molaeb invents a painting of duration, where each brushstroke resonates like a note in the silence.
