Artist: Jonathan Baldock

Canopy Collections presents For Your Keeping, a new solo exhibition by Jonathan Baldock. Best known for his large-scale installations, the artist turns here to a more intimate register, with a new body of small-scale works.

Made in ceramic and textile, the works take the form of votive objects, keepsakes and bodily hybrids. Baldock’s long-standing engagement with folklore, ritual and the natural world is distilled to a more personal scale, exploring ideas of care, vulnerability, containment and transformation. The exhibition will be accompanied by an essay by Gemma Brace, Head of Exhibitions at Arnolfini, Bristol.

Jonathan Baldock (b. 1980, Kent, UK) is a British artist living in London. He holds a BA in Painting from the Winchester School of Art, and an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art, London. His work is held in prominent collections internationally, including Aïshti Foundation, Beirut, Lebanon; Arts Council Collection, London, England; Columbus Museum of Art, Ohio, USA; RISD Museum, Rhode Island, USA; The Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool, England; The Roberts Institute of Art, London, England and Saatchi Gallery, London, England.

Recent solo exhibitions include Held, Arnolfini, Bristol (ongoing); The Gathering, sketch, London (2026), WYRD, Jupiter Artland, Edinburgh (2025), 0.1%; London Mithraeum Bloomberg SPACE (2024); Touch Wood, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield (2023); through the joy of the senses, Charleston Lewes, Sussex, (2023) and we are flowers of one garden, Stephen Friedman Gallery, London (2023).
