Max Hetzler opened the Hetzler+Keller gallery in Stuttgart in September 1974, specialising in established and emerging contemporary art. The gallery programme has continued to evolve with the artists it has been showing since the 1980s, including Albert Oehlen, Thomas Struth and Christopher Wool.
Since relocating to Berlin in 1993, the gallery has continued its long-standing commitment to exhibiting the work of contemporary artists across generations. With two spaces in Charlottenburg, Berlin and a gallery in Paris since 2014, Galerie Max Hetzler opened in London in October 2018. Situated in the heart of Mayfair, the London space enables Galerie Max Hetzler to continue working with artists and estates to present a programme of researched historical exhibitions.
