This Autumn, Messums ORG continues its spotlight on Sculpture following the publication of ‘Static Objects in a Changing World’ in 2025 and the group exhibitions Totemic (Messums London, 1 July – 5 September) and FLOOD (Messums West, 5 September – 3 October). Presentations across Messums London and Messums West will focus on exceptional sculpture including the showcasing of established masters and emerging talent. Together with this, the exhibitions will look at the significance of drawing in relation to sculptural practice – form through line and space.

The works presented across venues will span the past 150 years and offer a celebration of sculpture across time including the reappraisal of 20th century masterpieces in the context of today, a time when our relationship with objects is changing. In these remarkable works of art, the vitality that stems from the act of making is as fresh today as in the moment of creation – and the power of its messaging and impact on our lives now, in a world increasingly reliant on artificial intelligence, can be stronger than ever before.

At Messums London, a 20th Century masterpiece exhibition will launch together with Frieze London on 14 October and will include a number of highly significant sculptural forms. This will include Edgar Degas ‘Le tub’, widely regarded as the most innovative and important work of Degas’ entire sculptural oeuvre. Second only to his renowned rendition of the fourteen-year-old dancer, it is Degas’ most critically acclaimed sculpture. Together with this, the collection on display will include works by Elisabeth Frink, Kenneth Armitage, Reg Butler and William Turnbull.
