LBF Contemporary presents Lawrence Perry's second solo exhibition with the gallery, ‘Careless Rapture.’

In this new body of work the artist reflects on the emotional contradiction of nostalgia - the impossibility of fully recapturing the dazzling immediacy of an experience once it had passed, and the lingering desire to try. The title is borrowed from Robert Browning's Home-Thoughts, from Abroad: "Lest you should think he never could recapture, the first fine careless rapture." The lines struck Perry not only as an expression of longing, but as a question: is it ever possible to relive the catharsis of something truly new, or are we forever looking back at the last time we remembered it?
