Artist: Ceal Floyer
Lisson presents Ceal Floyer's first solo exhibition with the gallery in China this fall, coinciding with her recent presentation at Palazzo Diedo, Venice. The exhibition gathers a poetic, rigorously minimalist body of work spanning sound, light projections, and readymade objects, highlighting Floyer's conceptual precision and understated wit. Rather than declaring itself, the humour in her work surfaces through small displacements, such as a shifted vantage point, a pun, a delayed double-take, by which ordinary phenomena are quietly reordered. The effect holds two things at once: a sense that creative possibility is available in any situation, and a faint undertow of the absurd. Through these subtle interventions, Floyer invites viewers to renegotiate their perception of the world.
