Cristea Roberts Gallery is delighted to announce that it is now the representative for Sean Scully’s prints.

Sean Scully (b. 1945), one of the important abstract artists of his generation, has worked in the medium of print, alongside his paintings and sculpture, for over forty years.

Investigating the formal language of abstraction and minimalism, the artist’s prints feature the same motifs explored in his paintings; colourful grids, striped patterns, stacks of layered colours, windows, square compositions, and the spaces in between, are all imbued with the artist’s personal histories and experiences.

Today printmaking continues to offer Scully variety of expression and technical possibility, mostly recently seen in his new digital prints originally drawn, by hand, on an iPhone. Cristea Roberts Gallery’s first showing of Scully’s iPhone prints will be at The Armory Show, New York. Following further presentations at art fairs, including Frieze London and Art Basel Miami Beach, the gallery will stage a solo exhibition of works by the artist in June 2027.
