Esther Schipper announces representation of Jenny Brosinski

Esther Schipper is delighted to announce the representation of Jenny Brosinski.

Jenny Brosinski was born in Celle, Germany. In 2012 Brosinski completed her Meisterschüler studies at the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin. She was shortlisted for the Berlin Art Prize in 2014 and in 2024 nominated for the Hans-Purrmann Prize of the City of Speyer. Brosinski currently lives and works in Berlin and Blankensee.

Jenny Brosinski’s paintings combine an exploratory approach with a precise sense of composition. On often wide-open fields of unprimed linen or canvas, marks, stains, patches of color and occasional words are set against the exposed surface. Some motifs appear isolated; others form loose constellations or collide with one another. The resulting compositions are open but their shifts in scale, density and color give them a highly charged tension.

Brosinski works intuitively, allowing each mark to respond to what is already on the canvas. A drawn line may remain spare and tentative, while a stain or area of color can alter the balance of the entire composition. The paintings retain the evidence of this process. Playing with the combination of ostensible spontaneity and control, Brosinski’s vocabulary includes the directness of graffiti and the apparent simplicity of childlike drawing, but these forms are placed within a carefully considered pictorial structure. At times, bright and luminous colors stand out against the raw unpainted ground like signals.

The artist will have her first solo exhibition with Esther Schipper in November 2026 in Berlin.

Esther Schipper will represent Jenny Brosinski in collaboration with Galerie Knust Kunz, Munich.
