Yinka Shonibare CBE is is a British-Nigerian artist best known for his brightly coloured work, which often carries a commentary on cultural identity and (post-)colonialism. He was created a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2004, going on to incorporate the official use of the honor as part of his overall work. He has subsequently been elevated to Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). In 2010 his work “Nelson’s Ship in a Bottle” was the Fourth Plinth commission in London’s Trafalgar Square.
