Frith Street Gallery presents an exhibition of new work by Shilpa Gupta, marking the artist’s first solo show with the gallery.
The exhibition coincides with the artist’s first major UK institutional show at the Barbican’s Curve Gallery. Shilpa Gupta: Sun at Night will be open from 7 October 2021—6 February 2022.
Gupta also has solo presentations at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Germany, 15 September 2021–21 January 2022 and Dallas Contemporary, Texas, 26 September 2021–13 February 2022.
Shilpa Gupta (b.1976 Mumbai) lives and works in Mumbai, India where she studied sculpture at the Sir J. J. School of Fine Arts from 1992 to 1997. She has had solo shows at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Antwerp; The Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati; Arnolfini, Bristol; OK, Linz; Museum voor Moderne Kunst, Arnhem; Voorlinden Museum and Gardens, Wassenaar; Kiosk, Ghent; Bielefelder Kunstverein; La Synagogue de Delme – Contemporary Art Center; and Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. She presented a solo project at My East is Your West, a two-person joint India-Pakistan exhibition, by the Gujral Foundation in Venice in 2015. In 2019 she participated in the 58thVenice Biennale curated by Ralph Rugoff. Her work is in the collection of Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Centre Georges Pompidou, Mori Museum, M+ Museum, Louisiana Museum, Deutsche Bank, Daimler Chrysler, Bristol Art Museum, Caixa Foundation, Louis Vuitton Foundation, Asia Society, Astrup Fearnley Museum, Fonds National d’Art Contemporain – France, KOC Collection, National Gallery of Victoria, Queensland Art Gallery, Art Now, Cincinnati Art Museum, Kiran Nadar Museum and Devi Art Foundation amongst others.
