Artist: Sam McKinniss
64 rue de Turenne, 75003 Sam McKinniss: Misery
Tue-Sat 11am-7pm
Opening: Wednesday 7 September, 11am-8pm
Almine Rech Paris presents Misery, Sam McKinniss’s third solo exhibition with the gallery, and his first in France.
The exhibition will feature a body of new paintings that further demonstrate the artist’s interests in Google Image Search and figurative art. Inspiration for these works was taken, in large part, from The Oscars, an awards ceremony held annually in Hollywood, California. Almine Rech’s Rue de Turenne gallery space will be freshly red-carpeted for the occasion, rolled out as a nod to the Motion Picture Academy’s biggest night. The show will also include several paintings of dairy cows, inspired by farm life surrounding McKinniss’s recently purchased home and studio in rural northwest Connecticut.
A full press release by Natasha Stagg, writer and critic, will follow.
