ParisSaint-Germain-des-Prés: A Taste for the Greats of 20th-Century Design
This autumn, Sotheby’s is set to unveil a private Parisian collection dedicated to 20th century design to be offered at auction in Paris on 12 September. In a Saint-Germain-des Prés apartment, the landlord gathered some 200 works by major French artists of the 20th century including major figures such as Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne, André Dubreuil, Jean Després and Line Vautrin alongside famous designers including Carlo Bugatti, Massimo Micheluzzi, Rick Owens, Luiz Ferreira, Philipe Hiquily and Marc Du Plantier. Beautifully coherent in depth and scope, the entire collection was assembled over a period of almost 30 years, with pieces acquired from both galleries in Saint-Germain-des-Prés and at auction.

Twentieth-century French design is the common thread running through the collection, giving us the opportunity to admire the largest collection of works by André Dubreuil or Line Vautrin ever seen on the market. A large number of Art Deco jewels by Jean Després will also be an important highlight of this Parisian collection.
