In 2020, Sotheby’s sales of Russian art totalled an incredible £30 million. Sotheby’s maintained its long-held position as the market leader in 2021, with our June sales totaling £13.9 million ($19.3 million) – greater than the totals of all other London auction houses holding Russian sales combined.
Our December sale of Fabergé & Vertu: Property from the Brooklyn Museum, Sold to Support Museum Collections was a white glove sale with 100% of lots sold, achieving triple its low estimate. In June 2021, Sotheby's again demonstrated it is the market leader for Russian works of art and the auction house of choice for private collections with the sale of An Important Swiss Collection for £1,058,274, nearly double its pre-sale estimate.
Sotheby’s Russian Works of Art, Fabergé & Icons sale is now accepting consignments and bringing together the greatest masters of Russian applied art, from Fabergé and Imperial Porcelain Factory masterpieces to the revolutionary designs of the Soviet Porcelain Factory. The sale also features skillful enamels, silver, bronzes and icons by the most important Russian artists.
