The upcoming sale of prints and multiples includes remarkable works such as Willem de Kooning’s very rare early lithograph Waves #1, Henri Matisse’s pochoir masterpiece Jazz and an impeccably preserved portfolio, Bauhaus Mappe I, which comprises prints by various artists of the celebrated German Bauhaus School. An exceptional number of Andy Warhol prints from a private collector will be offered, including complete sets of Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup I and II portfolios. From the same private collection comes a large group by M.C. Escher, presenting a fascinating panorama of Escher’s graphic work. The auction brings together pivotal examples of 20th Century printmaking, illustrating every medium and beautifully representing seminal genres such as Expressionism, Minimalism and Pop.
