Sotheby’s London’s September Prints & Multiples auction will celebrate the work of established and emerging printmakers spanning over a century. Open for bidding September 19th – 26th, the editions offered will trace the development of the modern fine art print, from the rise of the colour lithograph in Paris to the proliferation of the screenprint in Post-War New York. The modern section will be led by coveted prints and portfolios by M.C. Escher, Pablo Picasso, and Marc Chagall, while the Contemporary selection will include vibrant Pop works by Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Highlights will include Warhol’s complete Mao portfolio and unique colourways of his Superman and Van Heusen (Ronald Reagan).
