Nikolaus List’s paintings are mystical, playful, atmospheric and calm landscapes. They open up dream worlds between stylized nature and manicured park landscapes, which seem to interweave with a touch of surrealism and humor.
Nikolaus List (* 1965) studied painting at the Frankfurt Städelschule under Thomas Bayerle, among others. His works have been shown in solo exhibitions at the Goethe Institutes in Brussels and Rotterdam as well as at the Bielefeld Art Association and the Göttingen Art Association. Since 1995 regular solo exhibitions in various galleries and trade fairs. List has participated in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad as well as the Tirana Biennale 2001. Between 2006 and 2013 List was in charge of the second year of studies in the painting class and was a lecturer for painting at the Weissensee School of Art. Since 2016 he has been teaching painting at the independent art school Berlin Art Institute. List lives and works in Berlin.
