Robilant+Voena of London, Milan and St. Moritz presents the exhibition Marino Marini: Horses, Horsemen and Female Nudes, curated by Barbara Cinelli and Flavio Fergonzi.
Marino Marini: Horses, Horsemen and Female Nudes explores the main sculptural themes the artist concentrated on from the 1930s to the 1950s. The most important subject to Marini, and that which the sculptor analysed the most thoroughly, was the Cavallo e cavaliere (Horse and horsemen). Marino Marini modernized the ancient relationship between man and horse, creating a narrative of the horseman being gradually and dramatically unsaddled. Marini also oscillated between the classical tradition of the nude through his Pomone (Pomona) series and an almost caricature-like interpretation with the deformation of the shape of the body.
