Colnaghi introduces the Summer Exhibition and a masterfully curated selection of 19th-century drawings during London Art Week.
The Summer exhibition comprises a varied group of old master paintings of impressive quality and contextually fascinating while simultaneously Colnaghi Elliott presents master drawings spanning form the entire 19th century.
For the old master section, the exhibition includes artworks from artists of the caliber of the Spanish Baroque painter Jusepe De Ribera and the Italian master Marcello Venusti while the drawings section is filled with forgotten artists who have been researched and brought to light.
There will be several newly discovered drawings by women artists, all of which are important examples of their type. These include a captivating watercolor by the society hostess Madeleine Lemaire, a refined hand study by Virginie Demont-Breton, a handsome portrait by Marthe La Lyre Levesques, of her husband the artist Adolphe La Lyre, and an enigmatically beautiful Art Nouveau pastel by Camille Métra.
