Artist: Kelly Akashi

For her first exhibition with Lisson Gallery since joining in September 2023, Kelly Akashi presents an entirely new body of work, in her hometown of Los Angeles. A landscape of stone and marble sculptures mounted on Corten steel pedestals populate the gallery space, each discreet diorama featuring glass, earth and bronze elements, among other materials both found and processed. From recent series centering on the fragility and complexity of the human form, Akashi now turns to the resilient and regenerative properties of nature through scanned, sculpted and drawn seed pods, as well as exploring our relationships to these ecosystems, through cast human forms and fragments.
