Sale N10175

21 November 2019 | New York | full auction details

Our annual Israeli and International Art sale is highlighted by the most beloved Israeli artists of the 20th and 21st centuries and by several European artists including Kisling, Adler and Chagall.

A significant group of Israeli works comes from a rarely seen European private collection encompassing important paintings by the founders of the Israeli modern movement, such as Mordecai Ardon, Nachum Gutman and Moshe Castel. Our Contemporary section is proudly represented by a kinetic work from 1972 by Yaacov Agam, a colourful abstract painting by Lea Nikel, striking portraits by Nir Hod, one of the most important photographs by Ilit Azoulay and a video by Ori Gersht. Several other contemporary works are being sold for the benefit of the non-profit organization, Artis.

Purchasers of lots with an ‘Important Notice’ symbol, who are Israeli citizens or a company registered in Israel, are not required to pay VAT (if applicable) upon import into Israel on the hammer price plus buyer’s premium (or on shipping costs), if the property is shipped to Israel by Sotheby’s.
