About Günter Fruhtrunk:
Günter Fruhtrunk (1923-1982) was a significant German artist of the 20th century, known for his abstract compositions and influential role in Op-Art. In 1968, he participated in Documenta IV and the Venice Biennale. His work was honored with an extensive retrospective in 1993 at the Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin, which was subsequently showcased in prestigious institutions such as the Landesmuseum Münster, the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen, and the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus in Munich. In 2012, the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein presented Fruhtrunk's work under the title “Farbe Rhythmus Existenz“. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Günter Fruhtrunk served as a professor at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts from 1967 to 1982.

The Bonn Kunstmuseum will present a comprehensive retrospective of his life's work from Nov. 16, 2023, to March 10, 2024. This exhibition will then move on to the Museum Wiesbaden (April 26 - August 25, 2024).

From Nov. 21, 2023, the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus Munich will show the exhibition "Günter Fruhtrunk, Die Pariser Jahre (1954 – 1967)". The exhibition lasts until April 7, 2024.
