Hans Staudacher 1923-2021
In 1975 Hans Staudacher shared the Austrian participation in the Biennale in Sao Paolo with Cornelius Kolig and Gotthard Muhr. The founder of Informel in Austria found his direct artistic language in the combination of lyrical Informel and abstract expressionism. He retained his great ability to devote himself to his work with full devotion and absolute ease into old age. The exposed spontaneity of his work points to Staudacher’s wide awake understanding and feeling in conscious artistic creation. Coincidence doesn’t matter. His artistic traces arise and follow the impulse to which the artist is subject as soon as he holds the brush in his hand and anchor himself in his work with sovereignty, proud demeanour and steadfast consistency.
