Christie’s Paris is offering an exceptional selection of 20th and 21st century works in its Design sale.
Almost 200 works by prestigious artists such as Alberto & Diego Giacometti, Jean Prouvé, Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne will be offered. This sale will present four important private collections and opens with the personal collection of Charlotte Perriand : a set of masterworks the designer created along her life for the various places she inhabited, including prototypes, unique collaboration and special orders. A second collection will unveil works by the extraordinary sculptor and light maker Félix Agostini and a third, presenting some of Pierre Chareau’s iconic works from the Dalsace family, owner of the Maison de verre. Our final collection features a private set of pieces by Jean Royère, commissioned from the artist in the 1950’s. In addition, the sale will also pay tribute to the extraordinary relationship between designers and the black colour, from the iconic Pomme de pin floor lamp by Alberto Giacometti to the graceful Perriand Forme libre dining table along works by Armand Albert Rateau, Georges Jouve and Serge Mouille among others. This auction will also include an impressive group of works by Line Vautrin, two pieces by Alberto Giacometti from a distinguished original collection, a monumental Structure végétale chandelier by Claude Lalanne and a rare set of two Autruches by Diego Giacometti.
