An exceptional ensemble of Post-War and Contemporary artworks will be presented on 4 December in Paris, led by Tentaisei Soushiko (The Winged Tiger), an extraordinary monumental oil on canvas painted by Kazuo Shiraga in 1960. The auction also features Agrigente, a seminal work from Nicolas de Staël’s most saught-after series executed on his return from an initiatory journey in 1954, and a major work testament to Zao Wou-Ki’s amazing artistic journey realized in 1958. These works will be exhibited alongside three iconic paintings by Pierre Soulages retracing the career of the master of black from the early 1950s until the 2000s. Further highlights include Head, a thrilling portrait executed in 1949 by Francis Bacon and giving us a privileged and fresh insight into the evolution of his radical genius.
