Sotheby's American Art sale on 19 November will present an exceptional group of paintings, sculpture and works on paper. Among the highlights are Milton Avery’s Porch Sitters and Young Musician, two works offered from All Things Beautiful: Property from an American Private Collection. Additionally, we will introduce a unique, tightly curated section of the sale entitled Art of the Americas. This grouping will include works of art traditionally sold in separate auctions of Latin and South American Art, American Art, and Canadian Art. Highlights include important examples of Canadian Modernism from the artists Emily Carr and Lawren Stewart Harris, as well as works by American masters Georgia O’Keeffe and Frederic Edwin Church. We are also proud to present Maxfield Parrish’s Mill Pond, one of the artist’s most commercially successful landscapes and one of the most recognizable paintings in his oeuvre.
