1334 York Avenue, NY 10021 Aboriginal Art

Mon-Fri 10am-5pm

13 December 2019 | New York | full auction details

International interest in Aboriginal Art has seen a resurgence this year. As the only auction house providing a global platform for Aboriginal Art and artists, it is prescient that Sotheby’s annual Aboriginal Art sale is relocating from London to New York for its inaugural auction on 13 December.
Works on offer will include major desert paintings from the collections of Thomas Vroom, Gabrielle Pizzi and Fiona Brockhoff, leading collectors in the field.
With an emphasis on strong contemporary practice, an auction highlight will be Gordon Bennett’s icon of post-colonial postmodernism, Self Portrait (But I always wanted to be one of the good guys), 1990 (estimate US$350,000-450,000).
