Zabludowicz Collection presents an Invites exhibition by London-based Korean artist Shinuk Suh. Working across kinetic technologies, silicone and steel industrial structures, Suh transforms the galley into a tragic comedy of errors.
The installation contains two newly produced mechanical sculptures extending from the architecture of the Invites space. Simulating a factory setting, textile garments flip around a rotating steel bar and small metal balls pass across 3D printed forms. In a skilfully produced satirical outcome, Suh's fragmented figures slap and smash across the installation in a critique on the ridiculous and oppressive nature of industrial manufacture.
Shinuk Suh (b. 1988, Seoul, South Korea) received an MFA in sculpture from Slade School of Fine Art and a Fine Arts BA from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Recent solo and two-person exhibitions include PLAYTHINGS, The Foundry, Seoul (2022); Post-Human Syndrome, BEERS London, London (2021); Rendered Reality, Korean Cultural Centre UK, London (2020); Man(u)fractured, Unit1 Gallery | Workshop, London (2019); Insignificant Tension, Daniel Benjamin Gallery, London (2019). Suh currently lives and works between Seoul and London.
