dynamic, colourful and bold explorations of abstract shape, line and form
This publication is the first comprehensive survey of Eddie Martinez’s sculptural works to date, and features more than one hundred works made since 2013 and includes a newly commissioned essay by Dr. Jon Wood, Research Curator at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds, England.
As with his paintings, the sculptures of Eddie Martinez are dynamic, colourful and bold explorations of abstract shape, line and form. In this book the eclectic range of materials he employs comes to the fore, with found materials such as plaster, cardboard, wood, plastic and rubber reaching their apotheosis in exquisitely cast bronzes. Playful, energetic and exuberant, they are simultaneously filled with an equal sense of melancholy, nostalgia and humility.
