“generated using mathematical chaos pattern, with colours referring to post-mortem body fluids symptomatic of a drug overdose”
Antwerp-based duo Carla Arocha & Stéphane Schraenen's edition was inspired by the forensic scene of the comedian Chris Farley's death. The Saturday Night Live star was found dead in his apartment on the 60th floor of the John Hancock Center in Chicago in 1997.
The image depicted on Arocha & Schraenen's print was generated using mathematical chaos pattern while its colours refer to post-mortem body fluids symptomatic of a drug overdose. This design, printed on leather, was cut down into individual sections and mounted on aluminium to create fifteen unique editions.
This limited edition work was produced on the occasion of the group exhibition The Gap, Selected Abstract Art from Belgium, curated by Luc Tuymans for Parasol unit, London, 9 September - 6 December 2015.
