“Part 9 of an exhibition moving through nine parts, inspired by Marguerite Youcenar’s novel”

Published on the occasion of the exhibition: ‘A Coin in Nine Hands’, 29 September 2017—14 September 2018.

Marguerite Yourcenar’s ‘A Coin in Nine Hands’ follows the journey of a ten-lira coin as it travels between nine different people on a single day in Rome in 1933.

The novel provided the structure and back drop to this exhibition – one that lasted a year and moved through nine parts, bringing together different voices through distinct visual elements as it unfolded. Each part was conceived individually, but followed just discernable threads. Some were more literal, some more remote, and some even followed a trail that led to an end, whether or not that destination was known at the outset. This booklet represents Part 9 - the final part of the exhibition.

Artists included Joseph Beuys, Hélène Binet, Alice Channer, Cesare Fabbri, Guido Guidi, Sol LeWitt, Helen Mirra, Jean-Luc Moulène
