Amanda Wilkinson
Based in the heart of London’s Soho district, Amanda Wilkinson Gallery is a contemporary art gallery with a strong focus on female artists and artists whose work explores issues around gender. The gallery was established in 2017 by its namesake and owner: the experienced London art dealer Amanda Wilkinson.
Amanda Wilkinson Gallery Artists
Amanda Wilkinson Gallery represents an international selection of artists of different ages. Most take a multi-media approach to their work. Among the gallery’s roster are influential female artists including American artist and filmmaker Laurie Simmons, known for the staged doll scenes she has constructed since the 1970s; Italian artist and writer Ketty La Rocca; and American pioneer of video installation and performance, Joan Jonas.
Amanda Wilkinson Gallery also represents younger artists including Irish painter Julia Dubsky; and Polish-Lithuanian feminist performance and conceptual art duo Dorota Gawęda and Eglė Kulbokaitė and most recently Richard Porter.
The gallery also represents the estate of acclaimed multi disciplinary artist Derek Jarman. Other artists represented by the gallery include Malaysia-born curator, writer, and conceptual artist Heman Chong, and Japanese interdisciplinary artist Shimabuku, whose solo show is currently available to view at The New National Museum Monaco.
Amanda Wilkinson Gallery Exhibitions and Art Fairs
Since opening with an exhibition by Korean artist Jewyo Rhii in 2017, Amanda Wilkinson Gallery has presented numerous solo exhibitions each year. As demonstrated by the 13-artist show MUTE (2018)—themed around the idea of thwarted or restrained communication—the gallery also presents curated group shows.
Amanda Wilkinson Gallery has also participated in several major art fairs, including Frieze London and Independent Brussels.
